Announcing Pastor Jon Mapa’s Retirement

Pastor Jon Mapa has served as the Assistant to the Bishop for Western Nebraska for the past year. His role included working with mobility and the Call Processes, serving congregations in central and western Nebraska, including the Central Southern Prairie, Loup-Platte, Panhandle, Pony Express, Tumbleweed, and Two Rivers Clusters, and pastoral care.

Rev. Mapa has most recently served as Pastor of American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg, and has also served as Dean of the Pony Express Cluster and as a member of the Nebraska Synod Council. He is married to Rev. Carol Mapa.

Pastor Jon Mapa and Pastor Carol Mapa have moved to Minnesota to be near to their daughter and other family in retirement. He leaves with the best wishes of the Nebraska Synod, and with deep gratitude for the ministries he has had the chance to walk alongside.

For all the many ways he has so faithfully and capably served, the Nebraska Synod says, “Thank you, Jon!”
