Would you appreciate time to check in and have a conversation about faith formation with folks from across the state? Join the conversation and register for the free online Faith Formation Buzz! We will ‘buzz’ on the third Thursday of every month at both 12:00pm CT/11:00am MT or 7:00pm CT/6:00pmMT.
These monthly meetings will allow for a chance to share information, ask questions, and learn from each other! Each month will feature a unique topic with a facilitator guiding the conversation. Topics included will cover youth ministry, cross+generational ministry, and faith formation.
We probably all agree that it is essential for churches to offer a safe environment for young people to learn and grow in their faith. Some churches in our synod require that each caring adult who works with young people be trained to prevent child sexual abuse and do background checks on all volunteers. This is required for any adults helping with any of the children’s or youth ministry programs, including VBS or summer mission trips. Other churches simply take in any known available and willing volunteers without training in this area or background checks and send them to a classroom or to a youth event trusting they will do the right thing. How much is enough and can churches be too vigilant? How do volunteers feel about being screened and trained? Where do churches come up with the funds to get started in this area?
