Nebraska Synod ELCA

This month we bid a Happy Retirement to Deacon Connie Stover, following her 22 years of service to the Nebraska Synod. Connie joined the Synod staff in 2000 as an Assistant to Bishop Dave deFreese. She continued in that role after Bishop Brian Maas’s election in 2012. In 2014, Connie became the Director of Seeking the Spirit Within, the Nebraska Synod’s Spiritual Direction Formation Institute.

In her time serving the Synod, Connie has been involved with congregations in everything from call processes to closures, in both conflict and celebration. She has provided exemplary and faithful leadership for Seeking the Spirit Within, helping individuals, groups and congregations deepen their spirituality and enrich their discipleship. In her time with the Institute, Connie has led four cohorts of spiritual directors in their formation.

With deep gratitude for her long record of selfless service, we wish Connie the best in her retirement and echo the words of Jesus, “well done, good and faithful servant.”
