Event
Special Guest Speaker: Rachel Foran
Join us in working together for justice and peace in Palestine and Israel. Grab a snack or a cup of tea and log in for our monthly Zoom gathering to learn how to walk with our siblings in the Holy Land.
The NSHLA group was formed as a journey of accompaniment with our Christian siblings in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land. In its early years, accompaniment trips were made to the Holy Land. Today, as we reconvene, we look for ways to strive for justice and peace and to continue to accompany those who live in the Holy Land.
Rachel lived in Bethlehem, Palestine during the summer of 2011, working closely with Christmas Lutheran Church and Dar al Kalima University. Her experience in the West Bank further cemented her commitment to the liberation of Palestine and an end to all forms of settler colonial occupation. She works as Organizing Director of Community Justice Exchange, supporting grassroots organizations working towards a world without police and prisons. She has been a member of several abolitionist organizing formations herself, including Survived and Punished NY, the #StandWithTracy defense campaign, and Court Watch NYC. Rachel moved to Omaha with her family in June 2024.
Rachel will share about her experiences and how we can continue to accompany the people of Holy Land though the Bright Stars of Bethlehem organization.
