Is Your Congregation Participating?
October 3, 2022
October 24-26 is RE: Formation! RE: Formation is what the title says – being re-formed as leaders in the church called to serve with enthusiasm, wisdom, open hearts, and theological grounding. Leaders will be re-formed by challenging speakers focused on today’s liminal times, workshops, fellowship, and worship. This annual fall gathering is for pastors, deacons, parish ministry associates, and other key staff members. Event planners are delighted we are meeting in person as they recognize the power of coffee station chats, prayer partners, resource exchange, collaboration, and colleague sharing. Is your congregation going to be represented?
Bishop Scott Alan Johnson, just 54 days in the office of Bishop, is looking forward to meeting more of the Nebraska Synod’s ministry leaders, preaching the good news and engaging in conversation as we begin to cast a vision for the Synod together.
Deacon Peggy Hahn, Executive Director of LEAD, will offer an invitation to come catch up with ourselves, remember our call, and live with freedom from perfection within a courageous community of believers. (waytolead.org) Dr. Courtney Wilder, from Midland University, will ground us as she leads our theological study of scripture. She will provide language and images to reflect on and speak honestly about our struggle and God’s presence. Tuesday and Wednesday workshops cover group coaching, spiritual practices, the Enneagram, staffing, ministry with people with differing abilities, grief work, and unconscious bias training. Worship, devotions, and a prayer service will re-form us as we remember our baptism, hear the Good News, and gather at Christ’s table to be fed the bread of life.
A reminder to treasurers that RE: Formation expenses should be covered by the congregation and are not considered continuing education as this is a “participation expected” event hosted by the Bishop.
Called to be lifelong learners, we gather October 24-26. Be sure staff from your ministry site are taking advantage of this time of learning.
The registration deadline is October 7.
