A Social Message on Child Protection (Draft) – 2025
The ELCA Church Council authorized the development of a social message on child protection and maltreatment, as requested by the 2022 ELCA Churchwide Assembly. Social messages are ELCA teaching documents that draw from existing social teaching but focus direct attention on a particular social issue. This social message is currently in development: class participants will be invited to offer direct feedback as part of the moral deliberation process discussed in the May session.
This replaces this originally scheduled conversation:
The 2019 Churchwide Assembly called for a statement on civic life and faith, the relationship of church and state, and related matters. Civic Life and Faith (Draft) has been through several draft cycles and will most likely be sent to the 2025 Churchwide Assembly for adoption as a social statement.
