Parish Ministry Associates – Serving Nebraska
PMAs train and serve in Nebraska, part-time, close to home, and in various ways.
PMAs are trained lay ministers who provide pulpit supply and specialized ministry and serve on staff or in congregations without a pastor. We’re committed and flexible servant leaders who usually keep our day jobs. Sometimes, we’re invited to serve in ways we didn’t imagine.
We study Bible, theology, preaching, pastoral care, history and more, at our own pace, over two to five years. PMAs learn in small groups, online, and in self-study with our mentor pastor. We work in partnership with and are supervised by ELCA pastors.
Our educational backgrounds and ages vary greatly. We are united by a love of our Lord and a call to serve God’s people with our unique gifts. If you’ve been feeling the call or want to know more about becoming a Parish Ministry Associate, talk to your pastor, deacon, or PMA and contact us.
