A Service of Lament

The Nebraska Synod Holy Land Accompaniment team invites you to join us in a service of lament for children killed in Israel and Palestine. The service is designed to be shared on December 28th (the Commemoration of the Holy Innocents and Martyrs) but you can use at any time that fits within your ministry and share in all the ways that you see fit. We have provided a video of the service as well as a printed bulletin/order of service and a list of 225 names (one name for each congregation in the Nebraska Synod) of children killed on October 7th and babies killed after that date in the Holy Land.

We invite you to watch and worship with us in solidarity on December 28th at 9:30 AM CT and to share this video and/or the order of service with all who may wish to participate.

You may also wish to watch and share this video of an ecumenical prayer service commemorating the holy innocents last year in Bethlehem. (The service includes Rev. Dr. Munter Isaac, pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem and Evangelical Lutheran Church, Beit Sahour.

The icon shared at the beginning of the service and during the reading of the names is created by Kelly Lattimore and is available for free download or for purchase here. Donations for the icon will go to Red Letter Christians humanitarian aid in Gaza.

If you want to become more involved in the work of the Nebraska Synod Holy Land Accompaniment team, email Gretchen Ahrens.
