Stewardship Book Review: The Uncommon Leader

At our stewardship meetings, one topic that comes up regularly is how busy pastors are and how difficult it is to plan because of constantly changing circumstances. Having worked with leadership training for a number of years, I can assure you that I hear that same thing from leaders from all areas of work. My answer is that no matter how rich or poor, young or old, we all get 24 hours a day. Your job is to determine how to use those hours to match your principals and values.

A very good book to help with leadership principles is The Uncommon Leader by Mike Murdock. The book is written for all walks of life but Dr. Murdock is a pastor and is written based on biblical scripture.

The book asks you to evaluate what you want out of your life, why you want those things, why you do not have then at the present time and what action will be necessary to get where you want to be.

It is possible to become a good leader by accident, but the odds are a lot better if you study good leadership principles just like becoming a better Christian becomes easier with study.
