Join Rev. Fred Andersen for 'Strength to Love'
Sundays, Jan. 10-Feb. 7 | 7 p.m. | Online via Zoom
Amid the turmoil and struggle for Civil Rights during the 1950s and 1960s, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr emerged as a leader who applied his Christian faith to the cause. Though a compelling preacher, speaker, and writer, he did not write a formal book of theology.Strength to Love is Rev. King's personal selection of sermons that he presents to illustrate his "theology" to fill this formal role. His sermons, rooted in Biblical and traditional sources, continue to speak to us today as compellingly as when they were first delivered. They challenge us to continue working in faith toward the freedom and dignity declared for all humanity in the Gospel of Jesus.
Having a copy of the book for the class will be helpful (though not required) for one's participation in the class. The registrants will receive a copy of the class session outlines by email attachment. The class session outlines include an online link to each of the sermon originals for a "read only" use. A copy of Strength to Love is in the Church library, or from one's favorite book seller in e-book or print formats.
