Luther Seminary- Finding Hope in a Divided Country
It’s not even November and a lot of us are sick of politics. Maybe we have friends, though, who can’t seem to think about anything else. Red hats, blue states, and for far too many, faces that turn the same colors when they start talking about the election.
Sometimes it’s easier to say nothing—even when the rhetoric is divisive or blatantly false. Avoiding these conversations isn’t a strategy though, especially when you lead people in a ministry or congregation. What you think, what you say, and how you demonstrate both matters.
Because we know this season will offer plenty of opportunities for polarization, we’re offering an online course, “Finding Hope in a Divided Country.” This month-long opportunity promises to:
Reframe American politics through a Jesus-centered lens
Give you the tools to calmly engage with different ideologies without compromising the Gospel
Create a safe space for you to connect with other like-minded leaders
...and so much more!
Led by Rev. Angela Denker, author of Red State Christians: Understand the Voters Who Elected Donald Trump, this once a week course will meet for an hour each Wednesday in October. On-demand access will be made available for anyone unable to join live.
Don’t walk into this election season unprepared. Before you wind up in an argument with a church member or find yourself unable to show empathy to someone with a different ideology, give yourself the gift of a learning community, of hope - even in an election year.
