Facilitator

The course is led by Pastor Thalia Woodworth, an ELCA pastor based in Stamford, Nebraska, who lives in and (mostly) loves the tiny town rural life. She is passionate about the Book of Revelation, especially the contrast between Jesus’ reign and empire, and about church history as a way of remembering who we are and discovering who we could be.

Pastor Thalia is deeply interested in the work of the Holy Spirit, whom she trusts to help us navigate the perils of both the institutional church and the wider culture. She enjoys facilitating PMA classes and watching people light up as they learn new things. Outside of teaching, she can often be found working on challenging knitting projects, listening to Audible books, and spending time with her four cats. In earlier years she treasured attending Global Mission Events.

Who Should Attend

This course is open to everyone. It will be a good fit for congregational members who want to understand how we moved from the early church to today, for council members and lay leaders who would benefit from deeper historical grounding, and for PMA students seeking credit and continuing education.

Rostered ministers who wish to refresh or expand their understanding of church history are also welcome, as are those who are simply curious about how the church’s past speaks into our present and future. Whether you are new to church life or have been part of it for decades, you are invited to join the conversation.
