Navigating the Wilderness: Nebraska Lutheran Campus Ministry

“Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness where for forty days he was tempted…”

Wilderness time can be good – full of discernment, discovery, listening and experimentation. It can also be hard, full of unknowns, anxieties, uncertainties, and change after change. As a sign of Jesus’ on-going presence Nebraska Lutheran Campus Ministry walks with young adults and college students across the state at ten different campuses, providing for spiritual needs of young adults who perhaps for the first time in life are away from home and their families. This is a time of great formation and vocational discovery, but as can also be the case in the wilderness, a time of trial and challenge. To have a faith community with pastoral leaders can be a true gift, and an answer to prayer for families, and loved ones, as a well as a connection point between congregations and college campuses. Nebraska Lutheran Campus Ministry provides Jesus’ presence of meeting people where they are at, and providing space for their questions and spiritual care for the excitement and anxiety that comes during college years.

Nebraska Lutheran Campus Ministry is one of the many ministries of the Nebraska Synod bringing the Word to life in service. Thank you to you and your congregation for your support!

Throughout the season of Lent, the Nebraska Synod will be lifting up various Nebraska Synod ministries and serving arms that have a connection to the upcoming Sunday text. The text referenced here is from Luke 4:1-13, the Gospel reading for Sunday, March 6 – The First Sunday in Lent.
