Nebraska Synod Christmas Greeting 2017
When the Song of the Angels Is Stilled
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and the princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flocks,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among people,
To make music in the heart.
In the holy time and space of Christmas, may we receive gratefully the unfathomable grace of God becoming flesh in the birth of Jesus. May the Infant’s vulnerability be our model, the shepherds’ humility our goal, Mary’s inexpressible love our longing.
And when we have breathed deeply of the moment, may we be renewed for the work of Christmas.
With prayers for a joyous celebration of Christ’s birth, and for a blessed New Year,
The Nebraska Synod Staff
