Empowered by the Good News of Jesus
Christ, the mission of Freed for Life is to bring
new life and hope to the incarcerated and to
those who are reentering society by raising
financial support and public awareness of
prison ministry throughout the Nebraska Synod, ELCA.
Prison ministries and re-entry organizations will have a “Prison Ministry Fair” with exhibit tables to display and share their information beginning at 5 PM.
Dinner seating begins at 5:30. If you cannot attend dinner, admission for the program alone is $10, payable at the door at 6:30.
Your contributions to Freed for Lif e support:
• Followers of Christ Ministry in the Nebraska State Penitentiary, a ministry
of the Nebraska Synod, ELCA;
• Bridges to Hope, which provides clothing and household items to those
leaving prison and reentering our communities; and
• the FEAST at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, which assists inmates
on work release from the Lincoln Community Correctional Center.
Keynote Speaker: Mr. Shon Hopwood
Mr. Hopwood is an American appellate lawyer and professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center. Hopwood became well-known as a jailhouse lawyer who served time in prison for bank robbery. While in prison, he started spending time in the law library, and became an accomplished United States Supreme Court practitioner by the time he left in 2009
